That remarkable streak was capped off when the Bronx Bombers defeated the cross-city rival Brooklyn Dodgers 4-2 in the Fall Classic. Mickey Mantle, Gil McDougald and Billy Martin, who batted a whopping .500, all hit 2 home runs in helping the Yanks to the title.
