The 1939 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was significant not only because it was the lowest scoring contest to date, it was also the first played in New York's historic Yankee Stadium. The American League pulled out a 3-1 victory over the NL behind the lights out pitching of Red Ruffing. Joe DiMaggio hit the game's only home run in front of his hometown fans. This OAL baseball is signed by 29 players and coaches from that historic team, including: DiMaggio, Hank Greenberg (sweet spot), Joe McCarthy (sweet spot), Lefty Gomez, Bill Dickey, Lefty Grove, Greenberg, Feller, Jimmie Foxx, Charlie Gehringer, Red Ruffing, Ted Lyons, Joe Gordon, Rollie Hemsley, Red Rolfe, Frank Crosetti, Joe Gordon, Luke Appling, Art Fletcher and Roger Cramer. The signatures range in grade from 4 to 8 with the majority in the 6 range. The Foxx is particularly impressive. "All Star A.L. 1939" and "A.L. 3 N.L. 1" are noted on the EX-MT ball. The autographs come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
