In 1920, the Pittsburgh Pirates signed a young shortstop named Pie Traynor who had been all but ignored by every other Major League club who came to scout him. It turned out to be among the better decisions that any ball club has made. Hall of Fame manager Bill McKechnie quickly saw the potential that young Traynor displayed, moved him from short to third, and the rest is history. Traynor went on to bat .300 or better 10 times, played in the first two All-Star games, and finished in the top 10 of MVP voting six times. Traynor has signed the sweetspot of this Official League baseball in bold black ink. The signature rates a strong 8 and has been lightly coated for preservation. The ball is a wonderful cream color with several light spots of discoloration. The autograph comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
