On Friday June 21, 2002, the baseball world was dealt a devastating blow when seemingly healthy three time all-star pitcher Darryl Kile was found dead in his Chicago hotel room. Just days before, Kile had lead his team to first place in the NL Central. A 20-game winner and one of the most respected pitchers in the game Kile, was an 11-year veteran with 128 wins under his belt. This jersey was worn by Kile during the 1997 season when he went 19 and 7 with a 2.57 ERA. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "48." Adjacent to this are the "100% Polyester" and "2" Extra Body Length" flag tags. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Houston" in black on white tackle twill. On the back of the jersey is the player number "57" in black on white and gold tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the "Jackie Robinson 50th anniversary" patch commemorating the breaking of baseball's color barrier. Kile signed the back of the jersey in black marker rating an 8. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
