In the mid season of 1962, the Chicago Cubs rookie Cal Koonce looked like a new Cy Young with a 9-1 mark. The 6'6" 230-lb Dick Radatz was a devastating reliever from the time he joined the Red Sox in 1962 through 1965, saving 100 games in four years and winning 49 more. As a rookie in 1962, he led the AL with 62 appearances, nine relief wins and 24 saves. In the neck of the jersey is a gray felt patch reading "34-67 Set 4" which has been done in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the player number, year and set number, respectively. The number "34" was Cal Koonce's number. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label with the size, "42." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Chicago" and on the back is the player number "43." Both the team name and number are made of blue on red tackle twill. The jersey was changed to number "43" when it was given to Dick Radatz. On the left sleeve is the Cubs patch. There is slight fraying on the numbers. The jersey shows good, even wear throughout and with the exception of the changed player number, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
