Tony Gwynn is often considered the best pure hitter of his era. In San Diego or on the road, day or night games, right or left handed pitching, nothing seems to stop the most consistent hitter in the game. His remarkable total of eight batting titles includes five of the top eleven single season batting averages compiled since the end of WWll. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" exclusive label and adjacent is the size tag "42." Below this is the year tag "86" in black chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Padres" and on the back is the name "Gwynn." Below this is the player number "19." The letters and numbers are made of brown on orange tackle twill. On the left sleeve are the initials "RAK" in black tackle twill commemorating the death of Padres owner Ray Kroc. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
