Chuck Dressen, the 5'5" 146 lb. extrovert, took up diverse challenges: picking racetrack winners, quarterbacking George Halas' Decatur Staleys (forerunner of the Chicago Bears) and the Racine Legion of the early NFL and playing eight years as a NL third baseman. He is most famous as a major league manager, managing successive pennant winners for the Dodgers in 1952-53. In the neck of the jersey is the "Rawlings" label and below is the size tag "44." On the left front tail is "Dressen 52" in blue chain stitch. The number denotes the year. On the inside left front tail is the wash tag. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Dodgers" in script-style letters and on the back is the manager's number "7." The letters and number are made of blue felt. There are two holes near the bottom button and on the right front tail is a repair where a strap used to be. This strap was pulled through the two holes which kept the shirt tucked inside the pants. There are two holes on the back number. The shirt shows even wear throughout. With the exception of the missing strap and repair mark, the jersey appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
