Billy Cox is considered by many to be the greatest fielding third baseman prior to Brooks Robinson. Cox became the Pirates' starting shortstop in 1946 and hit .290 to lead the club. He led the NL in fielding percentage in 1950 and 1952. This jersey is a one year style. In the neck of the jersey is the "Wilson" label and adjacent is the size tag, "40." Below this is a gray felt patch reading "Cox 6" in black chain stitch. The number denotes the player number. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Pittsburgh" in script-style letters and on the back is the player number "6." Both the name and number are made of black felt. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
