Because of his seemingly boundless enthusiasm, Pete Rose was nicknamed "Charlie Hustle" by Whitey Ford. Rose once said that he would "walk through hell in a gasoline suit to keep playing baseball." He is the only player to play 500 games at five different positions. Additionally, he had more than 200 hits in a season ten times, also a record, led the league in hits in seven seasons and is the most prolific switch-hitter in history. The jersey was manufactured in 1968 and worn in 1969 and 1970. In the neck of the jersey is a gray felt patch with the name "Rose" in red chain stitch and below is an autograph which rates a 9. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label which includes the size "44" and below is the "Wilson" label reading "1968 Set 2." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Cincinnati" in red on white tackle twill and on the back is the name "Rose" in red tackle twill. The player number "14" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The numbers are also made of red tackle twill. Baseball's "100th Anniversary" patch was removed from the sleeve after the 1969 season. There is slight fraying on the letters and numbers. The shirt shows even wear throughout and comes with an additional letter. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the removed patch, appears to have no other alterations of any kind. The autograph comes with a PSA/DNA letter.
