The Hollywood Stars, who played in the Pacific Coast League in the decades before big league's westward expansion co-opted the league's big markets, made its bones in the 1920s and 30s when it drew hordes of Hollywood movie stars and VIPs to cheer on the likes of Jigger Statz, Steve Bilko, Bunny Brief and Ox Eckhardt - not to mention Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr. In the 1940s the Stars became a Brooklyn Dodger farm team and its players were scouted extensively by Branch Rickey. This blue, red and white pullover uniform shirt is from the '50s, during which they won two PCL pennants in four seasons under manager Fred Haney. It was obtained at that time by Dodger scout Don Lindberg. In the neck of the jersey is the "Wilson" label and adjacent is the size tag "40." On the left breast is the red and white Hollywood Stars logo and on the back is the player number "29." Both the logo and number are made of red on white felt. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. It comes with a letter of authenticity by Lindberg.
