Hall of Fame pitcher Robin Roberts was simply dominant from 1950 to 1955. In each of those years, Roberts won at least twenty games and threw over 300 innings, going an incredible 28-7 with a 2.59 ERA in 1952. Not surprisingly, he made the National League All-Star team in all six years. This jersey was worn by Roberts during the 1951 season, in which he won over 20 games with a 3.03 ERA and an admirable 315 innings pitched. In the neck of the jersey is a grey felt patch with "Roberts - 51" sewn in red chain stitch. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "44." The tagging and stitching are consistent with tagging and stitching present on other early 1950s Phillies game-used jerseys. The team name "Phillies" has been sewn in script across the front of the jersey and the player number "36" appears on the back. The letters and numbers are embroidered in red on a white felt backing. The 1951 National League patch has been removed from the left sleeve. There is a small nick on the left breast and the numbers and letters exhibit fraying from wear. There has been a repair on the right front tail. The jersey shows game use with consistent, even wear throughout and, with the exception of the removed National League patch, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
