From May 30, 1982 to September 20, 1998, Cal Ripken Jr did the impossible; he played in every regular season game, setting an unfathomable record of 2,632 consecutive appearances. This record is not likely to be broken. Ripken, against all odds, slowly moved up the list of all time leaders. On June 12, 1990, he moved into second place on the list when he played in his 1,308th consecutive game, passing former New York Yankee Everett Scott. This jersey is from that important 1990 season. On the inside left front tail of the jersey is the "Rawlings" label with the size "48." Adjacent to this is the "Set 2 1990" flag tag as well as a white tag reading "2 Inch Extra Length." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Orioles" in stylized lettering and below this is the player number "8." On the back of the jersey is an orange nameplate with the player name "Ripken." Below this is the player number "8." All letters and numbers are made of black on white tackle twill. The jersey shows even wear throughout with the lettering slightly frayed due to use. All stitching is original and consistent with other Orioles knit jerseys from that era that we have seen. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
