Alex Johnson was called the fastest right-handed hitter from home plate to first. He is best remembered for edging the popular Carl Yastrzemski in the AL batting race in 1970, .3289 to.3286. In the neck of the jersey is the "Rawlings" label which includes the size "40." On the left front tail is "Johnson 40 71" which has been done in red chain stitch. The numbers denote the size and year, respectively. Below this is the wash tag and adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 #8P 1971." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Angels." The player number "17" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. The letters and numbers are made of red on blue tackle twill. The name has been removed from the back of the shirt. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the removed name from the back, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
