Shaquille O'Neal has done more in 10 seasons in the NBA than most players will do over the course of a career. The Los Angeles Lakers All-Star center has guided his team to three straight NBA Championships, garnering MVP honors in each series. He won a gold medal with the USA Olympic Basketball Team in 1996 and has been an all All-NBA selection eight times. It all started for Shaq in 1992-93 when he took the NBA by storm as a rookie for the Orlando Magic. Two of the many awards O'Neal received following his Rookie of the Year campaign are being offered here. The first is a 1993 People's Choice Professional Male Athlete of the Year Award. Mounted on a wooden base, the award stands 13" at its highest and grades near mint. Also included is a Fan's Choice Award presented to Shaq for the '92-'93 season. The wood plaque measures 12" x 15" and grades near mint as well. Both of these items come directly from Dennis Tracey, O'Neal's teammate and roommate at LSU who later became his personal manager when he turned pro. This is one of seven pieces consigned to us by Tracey which was previously on display at the All-Star Cafe for 10 years.
