Shaquille O'Neal has won so many awards over the course of his illustrious NBA and collegiate career that he couldn't possibly have room for them all. That is certainly good news for his many fans, though, because it makes items such as these available to the public. Offered here are three awards honoring Shaq prior to his NBA days. The first is a Chevrolet Scholarship Award honoring the star center for his MVP game against Georgia Tech on 3/17/90. Next up is a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Award recognizing Shaq as a member of the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame, in which he was inducted on April 18, 1992. These two items both measure 10" x 14". Lastly there is a Tanqueray Amateur Athlete Achievement Award presented to the Lakers big man on June 4, 1991. The silver-plated tray sits on a 5" x 14-1/2" wood base. All three awards grade near mint or better and come directly from Dennis Tracey, O'Neal's teammate and roommate at LSU who later became his personal manager when he turned pro. This is one of seven items consigned to us by Tracey which was previously on display at the All-Star Cafe for 10 years.
