Bill Walton may have been college basketball's greatest all-around player. As a team leader on defense, Walton was a superb rebounder and outlet passer on the fast break. He could score from the post position, his best move being a jump hook that he shot with either hand. On March 26, 1973, Walton forever etched his name into the history books. On that magical night in St. Louis, in the championship game of the NCAA tournament against Memphis State, he canned 21 of 22 shots, scored 44 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and led UCLA to the NCAA title. In his three seasons at UCLA, Walton led the Bruins to an 86-4 record and was a vital member of UCLA teams that won 88 straight games. Walton was a three-time All-America, the Sporting News Player of the Year three straight years and MVP of the 1972 and '73 NCAA tournaments. He finished his collegiate career with 1,767 points and 1,370 rebounds. On the front left tail is the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “44” with washing instructions. Across the front reads “UCLA”. The player number “32” appears below and on the back. All numbering and lettering is done in yellow on white tackle twill. This jersey dates to Walton’s last two seasons as a Bruin. It should be noted that another player did wear number 32 in this tagging period after Walton. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA grading the jersey an 8+.
