The 1961 season witnessed one of the most amazing performances in all of baseball as Yankees teammates Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris went head-to-head for the all-time, single-season homerun record. This National League crew were the umpires at Crosley Field when the Yankees captured Game 5 and became World Champions, thus signing on a Warren Giles Official National League ball when they would have all appeared together. Our research indicates this might be the only complete umpire signed ball from the 1961 World Series.
