Johnny Lujack was given a scholarship by Frank Leahy and attended Notre Dame from 1942-43 and then 1946-47. His career was interrupted for two years by World War II after his sophomore season, where he served as an officer in the United States Navy. When he returned from the Atlantic he appeared on the cover of the September 29, 1947 issue of “LIFE” magazine. He went on to lead the 1947 Fighting Irish to a 9–0 record for his senior year and won the Heisman Trophy. Notre Dame wore both blue and green jerseys during this time frame as seen in the accompanying photo. Inside the rear left tail of this durene jersey is the MacGregor Goldsmith manufacturer’s tag size “44”. The player number “32” appears on the front and back in white tackle twill. Also included are a complimenting pair of gold pants that are King O’Shea manufactured size “34” “LONG” from a later era. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA grading the jersey a perfect 10.
