This groundbreaking shovel on Pittsburgh stadium, which would later be named Three Rivers Stadium measures approximately 37.5” long and shows vintage wear and aging. Engraved on a plate on the handle reads “PITTSBURGH STADIUM GROUNDBREAKING APRIL 25, 1968”. The shovel comes with a photo from the groundbreaking ceremony with five people behind speaker Jesse Owens holding these shovels.
