Mark McGwire put the national sports spotlight on baseball during the 1998 MLB season as the home run chase unfolded towards Roger Maris' single-season record of 61. McGwire set a then major league single-season home run record of 70. On the inside rear left tail is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag. Attached are three flag tags that read the size “52”, “SET 1 1998” and “4 INCH SHORTER LENGTH”. Across the chest is the "Cardinals on a bat" team logo embroidered in red, yellow and navy blue. On the back is the player name, “McGwire” sewn on a white name plate. Below is player number “25”. Both of these are done in red on navy blue tackle twill. McGwire has signed the back of the jersey in black marker and in our opinion the signature rates an 8. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate game use. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
