The 1962 New York Yankees became back-to-back World Champions after winning it all in 1961. The thrilling 1962 Fall Classic between the Yankees and the Giants went to seven games with the Bronx Bombers taking home the title after a 1-0 victory in the deciding Game 7. Championship rings for World Series victory first debuted in 1922 however pendants and watches were also given. Offered is Jim Coates players watch from the Championship season. The face of this beautiful Rolex watch reads “1962 WORLD CHAMPIONS” with a Yankees team logo beneath. Engraved on the back reads “PRESENTED TO JAMES A. COATES BY THE BASEBALL COMMISSIONER”. Stamped inside the band reads “GENUINE CROCODILE MADE IN USA”, “18” and “822”. The back of the watch has been opened for service and the band has been replaced.
