Ralph Sampson was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1983 NBA draft, was a four-time NBA All-Star and won the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1984. Sampson was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. Sampson wore this jersey during the Western Conference First Round of the playoffs against the Utah Jazz. The heated series featured Houston Rockets rookie Hakeem Olujawon slapping Jazz reserve center Billy Paultz during Game 5. The punch turned momentum in the Jazz favor and they upset the Rockets on the road. On the front left tail is the Rawlings manufacturers tag size “42” with washing instructions. On the left inseam are two additional flag tags reading size “ADULT 42” with jersey materials and washing instructions and “3 INCH EXTRA LENGTH”. Across the chest reads, “Rockets”, the player number “50” appears on both the front and on the back and across the back reads the player name, “SAMPSON”. All numbering and lettering is done in red tackle twill sewn directly onto the white mesh jersey. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by an equipment manager LOA and a Photo-Match.com LOA confirming the match.
