In the rear collar is a period correct Spalding manufacturers tag. Adjacent reads the player name “Bishop” embroidered in all original red script style chain stitching. The jersey measures to a size “42” which is appropriate for Bishop’s 5’ 8” 165 lb frame. On the left chest is an “M” in blue on white felt and across the back is the player number “4” in blue felt. Eyelets have been added under the sleeves for extensions. Bishop’s original number “4” was stripped off the back and replaced with a modern “4”. In the rear waistband of the pants is the Spalding manufacturers tag. Adjacent reads the player name “Bishop” embroidered in all original red script style chain stitching. Also included is the belt for the pants. This uniform has seen extensive use and was repurposed at a secondary level where the original Philadelphia A’s team “A” logo was removed off the left chest and replaced with an “M”. Condition issues are seen throughout. The uniform was sourced from the family of the secondary player who at the time was told that these jerseys were worn by the Philadelphia A’s in the 1929 World Series. An incredibly rare example of a Philadelphia A’s flannel from the 20’s likely worn in 1929 the World Series. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding extended organizational use.
