The Bowling Green Falcons compiled a perfect 9–0 record, won the MAC championship, and outscored opponents by a combined total of 274 to 83. The team was voted by the United Press International Board of Coaches as the 1959 national small college champion. The team was inducted as a group into the Bowling Green Hall of Fame in 2013. This ring measures to a size “11” and around the face reads “1959 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS” with a “BG” logo in the middle. The left shank reads “FALCONS MAC 9-0” and on the right shank reads “BIRD” with a depiction of a football and football helmet beneath. Engraved on the inside reads “Bob Bird” in script style writing as well as “BALFOUR GT”. Also included is a small trinket that reads “This ring, in recognition of your accomplishment as a BGSU national champion, is a gift from the BGSU Foundation Inc.”
