After his retirement in 1987, “Dr. J” was invited to a New Jersey Nets game along with John Williamson and Bill Melchionni. The three players were gifted a 1988 New York Nets throwback style jersey by the team that contains all of the proper tagging of the uniforms that the players wore that day. On the front middle tail is the Sand-Knit manufacturers tag size “44”. Adjacent above is a tag reading, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively For The NEW JERSEY NETS”. Adjacent to the left are three box tags reading the year “88”, “3” LB” and a blank one. On the right inseam is a flag tag with jersey materials and washing instructions. On the upper right chest is an official “NBA” logo embroidered. Across the chest reads “NETS”. Adjacent below and on the back is the player number “32”. Across the back is the player name “ERVING”. All numbering and lettering is done in the same red tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged and was presented to us as a post-career jersey.
