Billy Williams was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987. Williams is known for his 16 seasons spent with the Chicago Cubs, earning six All-Star appearances, winning a National League batting title and having his No. 26 retired by the franchise. The Hall of Famer wore this jersey on September 10, 1968 against the New York Mets when he hit three home runs. Williams launched a 2-run home run off of pitcher Dick Selma in the first inning to take the lead and later tagged Selma for another home run in the 6th. Williams wasn’t done as he took fellow Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan deep in the 7th to seal the victory. This was one of the best offensive stretches in Williams’ career as he had hit two more home runs in a game just two days prior. On the front left tail is the Wilson manufacturers tag size “40” with washing instructions. On the bottom left button path is an additional Wilson tag reading “1968 SET 1 MADE IN USA”. In the rear collar is a strip tag reading “26-68-1-40” embroidered in black chain stitching. On the right sleeve is an ultra rare “1818-1968 ILLINOIS SESQUICENTENNIAL” patch and on the left sleeve is a Cubs team logo patch. On the left chest is the “CUBS” official team logo. Across the back is the player number “26” in blue tackle twill. You'd be hard pressed to find a better Billy Williams jersey in the hobby. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA confirming the match and grading the jersey a perfect 10 and an additional LOA grading the jersey an A9.
