An outstanding defensive player, the right-handed-hitting Joost hit for power but struck out at a higher rate for his era. In a 17-year major league playing career (1936–37; 1939–43; 1945; 1947–55) for the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Braves, Athletics and Boston Red Sox, Joost smashed 134 home runs, with a batting average of .239. In the rear neck is the Fred Muche distributor’s tag with a partially detached flag tag that is unreadable. Across the front reads “U.S. ALL STARS” and on the back is the player number “1”. All numbering and lettering is done in red tackle twill sewn directly into the flannel jersey. Joost signed the front of the jersey in black marker and in our opinion the signature rates a strong 8. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
