The 1996 film “Space Jam” starring Michael Jordan and other NBA stars grossed more than $230 million internationally, the most ever for a basketball movie. This pair of sneakers was worn by Jordan throughout the production of the movie and also during Jordan’s practice sessions held at the “Jordan Dome”, a practice facility custom built for Jordan so he could continue to hone his craft while the movie was being filmed. These are the Jumpman Air Jordan XI sneakers known as the “Concords”. Nike officially released the Air Jordan XI to the public in 1996, and MJ wore this black leather on white canvas style from earlier in the NBA season all the way through the NBA Finals. Tinker Hatfield's design for the Jordan XI featured patent leather for the first time on a basketball shoe. "Quality Basketball Products Inspired by the Greatest Player Ever" is stitched inside the upper tongue. "23" and the Jumpman logo adorn the outer heel. The pair comes in size 13 and are properly player sample coded 960112-FTPS. Jordan personally gifted these sneakers to his body double from the film after one of their many late night practice sessions. Jordan has signed both sneakers on the outer ankle area in black pen and in our opinion the autographs rate a combined 8. Accompanied by a full LOA from JSA and a LOP from our consignor.
