As his father played on championship teams in Cincinnati, Ohio with the Reds, Ken Griffey Jr. began his National Baseball Hall of Fame career at Archbishop Moeller High School. A high school mainly known for its athletic excellence, Griffey Jr. fit right in, winning the U.S high school baseball player of the year honor in 1987. We all know what happened after, as Griffey Jr. was selected No. 1 overall by the Seattle Mariners during the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft en route to one of the most prolific major league careers we will ever see. On the inside below the rear collar is a “BETLIN MFG CO.” size “L” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions on the reverse side. Across the chest reads, “Moeller” and on the back is the player number “24”, which is now retired by the Mariners. All numbering and lettering is done in blue on yellow tackle twill sewn directly onto the grey jersey. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. The jersey is accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by a notary public, saying the jersey was found in Griffey Jr.’s mother’s home, Alberta Griffey.
