Ted “Teeder” Kennedy played his entire career for the Toronto Maple Leafs and was captain for eight seasons. He was the first player in NHL history to win five Stanley Cups and is the last Maple Leaf to win the Hart Trophy which is given to the league’s most valuable player. He was a major piece of the Maple Leafs dynasty, a dynasty that many believe was the NHL’s first. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966. He has been called the greatest player in the Toronto Maple Leafs history by many. Kennedy was part of the first group of players to be named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history in 2017. Inside the front right tail is a Doug Laurie manufacturer’s tag. On the top left chest is the captain’s “C” done in white double felt. Across the chest is the “TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS” official logo done in blue and white double felt. Across the back is player number “9” held down in the custom embroidery on the interior of the number exclusive to the Toronto Maple Leafs. There are multiple repairs done to the sweater including two using a team hockey sock on the front right sleeve stripe. The sweater displays beautifully and is in outstanding condition. This is the nicest hockey jersey we have ever had the pleasure of offering. This sweater is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-worn and in our opinion shows outstanding use. This sweater was sourced directly from a gentleman who played for the Winnipeg Monarchs, a NHL sponsored junior hockey team from 1953-55. It was common for the Toronto Maple Leafs to provide this junior team equipment for practice. The gentleman was starstruck when this historic sweater showed up in the junior team’s gear, and kept it and put it away for years. This is the first time this sweater has been offered publicly.
