Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was a six time NBA Champion, six time NBA MVP, nineteen time All-Star, is the NBA All-Time scoring leader and his number “33” was retired by the Bruins, Bucks and Lakers. He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, NBA Top 50 Greatest Players of All-Time, and the College Basketball Hall of Fame. This jersey was sourced directly from a gentleman who was lucky enough to escort the Lakers to their game on January 20th, 1986 against the Bulls. The Lakers were unable to locate Abdul-Jabbar’s jersey prior to tipoff, and he was forced to wear a number “50” jersey with no name on the back. Following the game when the gentleman who drove the bus was cleaning the luggage compartment, he came across the now infamous Abdul-Jabbar jersey and kept it. The LA Times mentioned in the following day's newspaper that Abdul-Jabbar was without his usual jersey and wore number “50” in the contest. The Chicago Sun Times published an image of Abdul-Jabbar wearing the number “50” jersey. This bus driver wrote a notarized letter detailing these events of how he came across the real jersey. The driver had kept the jersey personally until 2013 when the jersey entered the hobby. On the center front tail is the “Tiernan” manufacturer’s tag. Across the chest is “LAKERS” and across the back reads “ABDUL-JABBAR” both done in yellow on white tackle twill. Player number “33” appears on both the front and back in white on yellow tackle twill. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows outstanding use. Accompanied by a LOP from the bus driver. Also accompanied by a letter from PM&G rating the jersey a 10.
