Lou “The Toe” Groza attacked the distance barrier for kickers throughout NFL history. Groza led the NFL in career points at the time of his retirement after the 1967 season. Groza was a four-time NFL champion and paved the way for field goal attempts beyond the 50-yard mark. Groza has his No. 76 retired by the Cleveland Browns, was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in in 1974 and has the Lou Groza Award named after him for the best collegiate placekicker. A pair of black vintage leather cleats. There is an ID number stamped inside of each cleat, but the left-footed cleat is difficult to decipher. The right-footed cleat appears to read, “11.D Z2084”. The right-footed cleat has a custom square toe box instead of the normal rounded curve to accommodate Groza's straight-ahead kicking approach. He preferred to approach the football in a straight line and booted it with the top of his foot, aiming for the middle of the ball. The orange kicking tee is manufactured by “BOOMER” and reads, “INTERCOLLEGIATE KICKING TEE” on the bottom. These items are properly tagged, were presented to us as game-used and in our opinion show appropriate use. Accompanied by a family LOA.
