One of the transcendent athletes in sports history, Muhammad Ali broke down barriers both inside and outside of the boxing ring to secure his rich legacy. Ali’s charisma paired with elite talent and style made him into one of the defining sports figures of his era and beyond and was involved in some of the most captivating sporting events in the 20th century. These red leather “SEVER” were used by Ali in training for his fight against Mathis. Gloves come with original lacing, and have a white band with red stitching on the underside of the thumb of each glove. A vintage Ali signature is on the top side of each glove in gold pen and in our opinion, rates an 8 overall. In a copy of an LOA signed by Ali, he states the gloves were “given to Drew “Bundini” Brown” and that it is Ali’s “understanding that these gloves...were sold at auction at Guernsey’s in New York”. Brown was Ali’s cornerman and assistant trainer throughout his career. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA, a copy of an Ali LOA, a receipt of purchase and an LOA from Craig Hamilton from JO Sports.
