First ballot Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. Gwynn led the National League in batting eight times, was named to 15 All-Star teams, won five Gold Glove Awards and seven Silver Slugger Awards. His No. 19 is retired by the San Diego Padres. On the inside of the shell is an “american baseball cap” size “7 1-8” manufacturer’s sticker. On the inside rear cushion reads, “5/1/99 CUBS 2,964” in black pen. The 1999 season was when Gwynn reached 3,000 career hits. On the back of the helmet is an “ABC” logo sticker adjacent to the player number “19” decal in orange and white. Adjacent is “Authentic Sports Investments” hologram sticker “42187”. On the front of the helmet is the team’s “SD” logo in white and orange. Gwynn signed the bill in silver pen and in our opinion, rates a 6 overall. This helmet is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use with scuffing along the outer shell. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA.
