One of the greatest race car drivers of all-time, Dale Earnhardt Sr. was best known for his career driving stock cars in NASCAR's top division. Best known for his success in the Winston Cup Series, now known as the Nextel Cup Series, he won seventy-six races (including his only Daytona 500 victory in 1998) and his seven championships (1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994) are tied for most all-time with Richard Petty. He was a two-time American Driver of the Year (1986, 1994) and five-time National Motorsports Press Association Driver of the Year (1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1994). Tragically, Earnhardt died in a last-lap crash during the 2001 Daytona 500. On the right chest and wrist is the “SIMPSON” manufacturer’s tag. Across the front, on back, down each leg, on each sleeve, each shoulder and the left and right collar reads “Goodwrench”. Other advertisements embroidered on the front are: “Goodwrench Racing”, “Snap-on”, “STETSON HATS”, “MOM ‘N’ POP’S”, “McDONALDS”, “GOODYEAR”, “AC”, “76”, “Mr. Goodwrench QUICK LUBE plus”, “NASCAR Winston Cup Champion”, “RCR” and the Chevrolet “Bowtie” logo. Also on the front is Earnhardt’s facsimile signature. On the left chest is the “SIMPSON” patch. Earnhardt has signed the front of the firesuit in black marker with the added inscription “To Kenny”, in our opinion the signature rates a 7. The fire suit is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion shows use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA from Kenny Gattison.
1994 Dale Earnhardt Sr. NASCAR Race-Worn & Autographed Firesuit (JSA • Personally Gifted by Earnhardt to Kenny Gattison Of The Charlotte Hornets • Gattison LOA)
