“SPALDING” manufactured football. Stamped on the ball is the “AMERICAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE” logo and commissioner Joe Foss’ facsimile signature. Written on the back of the ball in black ballpoint pen is “Houston Oilers “AFL” Champs 61”. The ball has been signed in black ballpoint pen by 31 members of the 1961 AFL Champion Houston Oilers. Notable signatures include Hall of Famer George Blanda (1961 AFL All-Star, First Team All-AFL, AFL MVP, AFL Passing Leader & AFL TD Leader), Billy Cannon (1961 AFL All-Star & All-AFL) and Charley Hennigan (1961 AFL All-Star & All-AFL). Additional signatures include: Bob McLeod (1961 AFL All-Star) with the added inscription “To Dad,...+ Oilers”, Charley Tolar (1961 AFL All-Star), Dennit Morris, John White, Julian Spence, Don Floyd, Tony Banfield, Orville Trask, Fred Glick, Bob Kelly, Jacky Lee, Dick Frey, Bob Schmidt, Bob Talamini, Dave Smith, Ed Husmann, Al Jamison, Mark Johnson, Hogan Wharton, Willard Dewveall, Doug Cline, Rich Michael, George Shirkey, Mike Dukes, Claude King, Ron Botchan, Dalva Allen and Bill Groman. In our opinion the signatures rate a 7 overall. The ball is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use with some missing leather. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
