The 1929 Philadelphia Athletics finished first in the American League with an astonishing 18-game lead over the second place New York Yankees, capturing the 1929 AL Pennant. With a regular season record of 104-46, the Athletics are considered by many to be the greatest baseball team ever assembled. Approximately 37.5” x 19” framed 1929 Philadelphia Athletics panoramic photo. The top right of the photo reads “PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS - AMERICAN LEAGUE PENNANT WINNERS - 1929” in white. Below each player are their respective names also in white. The framed piece has been signed by 28 members of the 1929 World Champion Philadelphia Athletics. Notable signatures include Hall of Famers Lefty Grove (1929 AL ERA Leader & AL Strikeout Leader), Al Simmons (1929 AL RBI Leader), Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Cochrane, Connie Mack and Eddie Collins. Additional signatures include: George Earnshaw (1929 AL Wins Leader), Kid Gleason, Walter French, Jimmy Dykes, Jimmy Cronin, Max Bishop, Bevo LeBourveau, Cy Perkins, Bill Breckinridge, Bing Miller, Rube Walberg, Jack Quinn, Mule Haas, Joe Boley, Howard Ehmke, Homer Summa, Earle Mack, Eddie Rommel, Bill Shores, Sam Hale and George Burns who signed twice because his original signature was smudged. Most signatures run across each player’s image except for Ehmke, Collins, Hale, Summa, Mack, Mack, Shores, Rommel, Earnshaw and Burn’s second signature. All signatures are done in black or blue fountain pen, except Summa who signed in pencil, and in our opinion rate a 9 overall. The framed piece is in EX condition with a tear in the photo to the far right side. Accompanied by a full LOA from JSA.
