“Rawlings” manufactured “OFFICIAL BALL - 1982 WORLD SERIES” Kuhn baseball. Stamped on the east panel is the “1982 WORLD SERIES” logo in red. The ball has been signed by 25 members of the 1982 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Notable signatures include Hall of Famers Whitey Herzog (ss)(Manager), Ozzie Smith and Coach Red Schoendienst. Additional signatures include: Jeff Lahti, Glenn Brummer, Gene Terace, Keith Hernandez (1982 Gold Glove), Lonnie Smith (1982 All-Star), David Green, Bob Forsch, George Hendrick, Tom Herr, Willie McGee, John Stuper, Mike Ramsey, Steve Braun, Darrell Porter (NLCS & World Series MVP), Ken Oberkfell, Joaquín Andújar, Bruce Sutter and John Martin. Also featured are coaches Chuck Hiller, Hal Lanier and Hub Kittle. All signatures are done in the same blue ballpoint ink, except McGee who signed in black, and in our opinion rate an 8 overall. The ball is in NM-MNT condition. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA from Dave Phillips, one of the 1982 World Series umpires.

David Robert Phillips is a retired umpire, first with the American League from 1971-1999, then with both leagues from 2001-2002. Dave had the honor of working four World Series (1976, 1982, 1987—crew chief, and 1993—crew chief) and two All-Star Games (1977 and 1990). Offered here, as Lots #225 through #237, are autographed baseballs which Dave himself personally collected during his tenure as a Major League umpire.
