“SPALDING” manufactured OAL MacPhail baseball. The ball has been signed by 22 members of the 1976 World Champion Cincinnati Reds. Notable signatures include Hall of Famers Sparky Anderson (ss)(Manager), Johnny Bench (1976 All-Star, World Series MVP & Gold Glove), Tony Perez (1976 All-Star) and Joe Morgan (1976 All-Star, NL MVP & Gold Glove). Additional signatures include: George Foster (1976 All-Star, NL RBI Leader & All-Star Game MVP), Rawly Eastwick (NL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year & NL Saves Leader), Joe Henderson, Bill Plummer, Pedro Borbon, Gary Nolan, Fred Norman, Joel Youngblood, Cesar Geronimo (1976 Gold Glove), Doug Flynn, Santo Alcala, Manny Sarmiento, Mike Lum and Don Gullett. Also featured on the ball are coaches Ted Kluszewski (ss), Larry Shepard, George Scherger and Russ Nixon. All signatures are done in the same blue ink and in our opinion rate a 7 overall. The ball is in MNT condition. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA from Dave Phillips, one of the 1976 World Series umpires.

David Robert Phillips is a retired umpire, first with the American League from 1971-1999, then with both leagues from 2001-2002. Dave had the honor of working four World Series (1976, 1982, 1987—crew chief, and 1993—crew chief) and two All-Star Games (1977 and 1990). Offered here, as Lots #225 through #237, are autographed baseballs which Dave himself personally collected during his tenure as a Major League umpire.
