On June 17, 1994 Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 30th Home Run of the season off Kansas City Royals ace David Cone, surpassing Babe Ruth's mark for most home runs before June 30th. Ruth hit 30 by that date in both 1928 and 1930, finishing with 54 in 1928 and 49 two years later. On the front left tail is the “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” manufacturer’s tag with size “46”, a “PSA/DNA” sticker with serial number “W45685”, wash instructions and two flag tags reading “100% POLYESTER” and “2” EXTRA LENGTH”. Adjacent below is a white strip tag with the year “1999” printed in black. Across the front reads “SEATTLE” in navy blue on northwest green on white tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the “SEATTLE MARINERS” patch embroidered in navy blue, northwest green, silver sparkle and red on white tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the “125TH ANNIVERSARY” patch embroidered in red, gold and blue on black tackle twill. Adjacent below is the Russell “R” logo embroidered in navy blue. Across the back is the player name “GRIFFEY” on a grey nameplate. Adjacent below is the player number “24”. Both are done in the same navy blue on northwest green tackle twill. Griffey has signed the back of the jersey in black marker with the added inscriptions “#24” and “6-17-94”, in our opinion the signature rates an 8. After exhaustive photo and video research of footage from that record breaking game, we have concluded that a solid argument could be made that this is infact the jersey that was worn during that game. The quality of period imagery and video makes it impossible to make an exact determination, but the placement of many of the jerseys identifying characteristics appear to be in the correct configuration.The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA.
