This is the helmet worn by hockey’s greatest player, Wayne Gretzky, tying the sports greatest record of scoring the most goals in the sport’s history. On 3/20/1994, Gretzky scored career goals 800 and 801 to tie Gordie Howe’s record. Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame immediately after retiring in 1999, making him the most recent player to have the waiting period waived. His No. 99 is retired league-wide and he is the only player to receive this honor. “JOFA” manufactured black helmet. Player number “99” appears on the back. Adjacent to the player number “99” is a strip tag with “JFC” in memorium to his friend John Franklin Candy. Inside the helmet there’s a sticker with the number “77” on it in memorium to his personal friend Paul Coffey. Also inside the helmet is Kings trainer Peter Millar’s initials with the year “93/94” in black marker. This helmet is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied by a Casey Samuelson LOA and additional LOAs (including a DVD). One additional LOA is from Gretzky’s brother-in-law Gary Jones, who notes Gretzky personally gave him the helmet at the conclusion of the 1993-94 season.
