Manuf: Spalding. Length: 35”. Weight: 36.4 oz. Wood: Ash. Labeling Period: 1912–21. Condition: Cracked at the handle. The left barrel has been planed to receive factory side-writing, it reads “38 oz. Samuel E. Crawford” in vintage grease pencil. The player name and return date are fairly clear and confirms the bat as being returned by Crawford himself to Louisville Slugger. Legible in the side written area under the return date is “Los Angeles”. In 1921, at the age of 41, Crawford was a member of the Pacific Coast League Los Angeles Angels. This bat was returned to Louisville by Crawford during his 1921 PCL season but the broad range of the labeling period of the subject bat makes it possible for the bat’s use during Crawford’s major league career. The bat exhibits evidence of heavy use. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA.
