Manuf: H&B. Length: 36”. Weight: 34.9 oz. Wood: Ash. Labeling Period: 1922–24. Condition: Uncracked with a chip on the knob. Ball/hit marks are present on the left and back barrel. The player name “Fred Lindstrom” and the date “4-21” has been side-written onto the left barrel in vintage grease pencil. The barrel has been planed to receive the writing, the year is illegible. In the 1940s, when players were in need of bats of the same model, it was commonplace for the player to send his preferred model back to the factory to request models of the same type. Upon receipt, an area on the barrel was planed and inscribed with the length, weight, player’s name, date received and team affiliation. The player name and a portion of the return date are fairly clear and confirms the bat was returned by Lindstrom himself to Louisville Slugger. Lindstrom bats are scarce, this is one of only three bats that have been presented to PSA/DNA. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the handle. There are a number of small cuts present on the front, right and back barrel. The bat exhibits evidence of heavy use. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA grading the bat an 8.5.
Circa 1924 Freddie Lindstrom NY Giants Rookie Era Game-Used & Factory Side-Written Bat (PSA/DNA Graded 8.5 • Very Rare)
