In 2013, Max Scherzer proved he was a top-tier major league pitcher by taking home the AL Cy Young Award. Scherzer went 21-3 with an ERA of 2.90 and struck out 240 batters. On the front left tail is a “Majestic” manufacturer’s tag with “JSG” written on it in black marker, which are the initials of Tigers Clubhouse Manager, Jim Schmakel. Below is a white mesh strip tag that reads “37 48 ‘13 076”. On the left seam is a “Majestic COOL BASE” tag. On the left inseam is a “100% POLYESTER” tag with washing instructions and size “48”. Outside the rear collar is an official “MLB” logo embroidered. Across the chest reads “DETROIT”. Player number “37” appears on both the front and on the back. Across the back reads player name “SCHERZER”. All numbering and lettering appears in the same navy blue on orange on white triple tackle twill sewn directly onto the grey mesh jersey. Inside the back player number “7” is signed in white marker with the added inscription “Cy Young ‘13” rating a seven. On the left sleeve is a “Majestic” logo embroidered. We were told by our consignor that this jersey was signed two days after winning the Cy Young Award at a charity event—"Driving Out Domestic Violence"— and was likely the first inscribed "Cy Young ‘13" autograph he ever signed. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by an LOA by JSA and we were told by our consigner that this jersey was originally sourced from Scherzer himself.
