In 1981, Michael Jeffrey Jordan earned a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a freshman in coach Dean Smith's team-oriented system, he was named ACC Freshman of the Year after he averaged 13.4 points per game. He made the game-winning jump shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship game against Georgetown. During his three seasons at North Carolina, he averaged 17.7 ppg and added 5.0 rebounds per game. He was selected by consensus to the NCAA All-American First Team in both his sophomore (1983) and junior (1984) seasons. After winning the Naismith and the Wooden College Player of the Year awards in 1984, Jordan left North Carolina one year before his scheduled graduation to enter the 1984 NBA Draft. “Converse” manufactured high-top sneakers, Carolina light blue leather with white trim (before his colossal Nike exclusive deal). MJ has signed the right shoe on the outer right side in black marker rating a 7. The sneakers were presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, show appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from our consignor, a personal friend of Jordan’s stating that MJ visited him after winning the 1982 NCAA basketball national championship. As he worked in a sporting goods store that Jordan frequented, he offered to give MJ a brand new pair of Nike basketball shoes in exchange for MJ’s Carolina blue leather shoes that he had worn in games throughout the year and Jordan accepted. Further accompanied by a full LOA from JSA.
