Chuck Klein was one of the most prodigious National League sluggers in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He was the 1932 NL MVP and once hit four home runs in one game. A member of our consignor’s family was sent this jersey to wear during a team tryout. He got hurt and never attended the tryout and subsequently kept this jersey. It remained with the family until now. This jersey was worn only one year removed from Klien’s triple crown year. Inside the rear collar is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with size “42”. On the right front tail is a flannel strip tag with “Klein” embroidered in black chain stitch. On the left chest is the team “Cub” embroidered in gold chain stitch. The “C” has been removed. Player number “6” appears on back in navy blue felt. The shirt features a sun collar. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows excellent use. Accompanied by an apparent photo match. Other than what is mentioned, there appear to be no further alterations of any kind. Accompanied by an eSigned LOA from the son of the ballplayer who was given this shirt by a Cubs Scout.

Letter of Provenance: Originally Sourced From a Chicago Cubs Scout To Be Worn For Tryouts, Consigned By The Ballplayer's Family • My Dad was raised on a farm in central Illinois about three hours south of Chicago. In the late 1930s he went to live with his sister in Joliet, Illinois. Baseball was big in that town and the surrounding area and he became one of the best pitchers. He was given the jersey by a Cubs scout and told to come to a try out session in two weeks. The week before the tryout he pitched two games, which he regrets, with the second one just the day before his tryout. He said his arm was too stiff and tired to go to the tryout, thinking he would get another chance someday. It didn’t happen and he returned to his farm later that year.
