On July 21, 2004, David Wright made his major league debut starting at third base against the Montreal Expos. During his first major league season, he had a .293 batting average, 14 home runs and 40 RBIs in 263 at bats in 69 games, and was voted as the This Year in Baseball Awards Rookie of the Year. Inside the left front tail is the “Majestic” manufacturer’s tag with attached flag tags “46” and “set 1 2004”. Across the front is “Mets”. Player number “5” appears on both the front and back. Player name “WRIGHT” appears on back. All these numbers and letters are done in blue on orange on black tackle twill. At the rear collar is the official MLB embroidered logo patch. On the left sleeve is the team disc patch. Adjacent is “BOB MURPHY” embroidered along with the Majestic “M” logo. On the right sleeve is the “Shea 40th Anniversary” patch with adjacent “Ya Gotta Believe TUG”. Wright has signed the back in blue marker which is somewhat faded. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
