Dennis Eckersley had success as a starter, but gained his greatest fame as a closer, becoming the first of only two pitchers in Major League history to have both a 20-win season and a 50-save season in a career. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004. Inside the left front tail is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with two attached flag tags, “44” and “SET 1 1997”. Across the front is the team “Cardinals on a Bat” embroidered in yellow and red chain stitch with a blue embroidered border. Player number “43” appears on back. Player name “ECKERSLEY” appears on back on a grey nameplate. All these numbers and letters are done in red on navy blue tackle twill. Eck has signed the back number in silver marker rating a 7. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
