Lou Boudreau became the first manager of the Kansas City Athletics in 1955, after their move from Philadelphia and managed the team until 1957. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1970. On the left front tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with jersey size “44”. Adjacent on the outer button path is a felt strip tag with “Boudreau 2-57-5” indicating name, set, year and the manager’s number, respectively. Boudreau has signed the jersey above in blue marker that is somewhat faded. Across the front is “Athletics”. The manager’s number “5” appears on back. There is a number change on back then restored back to original number “5”. All these numbers and letters are done in red on navy blue felt. On the left sleeve is the “Elephant on a Ball” embroidery. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as manager’s worn and in our opinion shows wear. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA. Other than what is mentioned, there appear to be no further alterations of any kind.
