This historically significant ring comes to us directly from Lynn Shackelford. The 1968-69 UCLA Bruins cruised through the season, going undefeated for their first 25 games on their way to winning the NCAA Championship, the third of seven-in-a-row. Led by Hall of Fame coach John Wooden, the team averaged 85.3 points per game and won all four NCAA tournament games by an average of 19 points. Lynn Shackelford was awarded the Bob “Ace” Calkins Memorial Trophy as the team’s top foul shooter. In the 90 games of his UCLA career, Shackelford averaged 9.7 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting .482 from the field and .729 from the foul line. This size 10, 10k gold player’s ring weighs 23 grams and was presented to Lynn Shackelford after he and the UCLA Bruins won their third consecutive NCAA Championship. The top panel reads “UCLA NCAA CHAMPIONS” surrounding a large blue synthetic stone. The left panel reads “BRUINS” in relief above the casted image of a basketball and laurelled leaves. The right panel reads “1969 1968 1967” in relief, commemorating the team’s three consecutive NCAA Championships. We were told by Shackelford that players who were present on all three championship teams received this special version of the ring. The inside of the ring is engraved with the player’s initials “LS” and stamped “LGB 10K”. The ring is in NRMT condition with light wear and is accompanied by a LOA from Lynn Shackelford.
